About therapy

What can I expect?

The decision to begin therapy isn't easy.  I believe that it is my job to not only provide concrete coping skills to help you manage difficulties you may be facing, but also help you understand how therapy works.  Therapy is most effective when you can build a trusting professional relationship with the therapist, and therefore this is my top priority.  I provide a safe and non-judgmental space for you to explore your own struggles while simultaneously utilizing my knowledge of different treatment approaches to help you build awareness and make positive steps towards change - change that you determine.  Some of the key interventions I use are mindfulness (teaching you how to be aware of the present moment to decrease reactivity), thought re-framing, and yoga-informed techniques such as deep breathing and specific yoga poses that may help with difficult emotions.
